Overcoming the barriers to employee healthcare engagement

3 min read

When individuals are active participants in their health journey, they live happier and healthier lives. Not only that, but it also creates better healthcare economics and lowers costs. But how do organizations encourage this participation? How do they ensure that employees are engaged with their health and benefits programs? They need to start at the baseline: what is the current state of their health and benefits offering? What are the tools and technologies available to encourage benefits participation? Are employees actually using these programs? And if not, why? We teamed up with Harvard Business Review to find out.

Addressing the core barriers identified above is the first step. In order to increase engagement, evaluate the current state of these core factors: awareness, information centralization, personalization and decision support. Instead of viewing the health and benefits system as a segmented experience, organizations must pivot their mindset to a holistic approach–like a digital health platform.

When these four barriers to engagement are identified, researched and remediated, the door is unlocked to a best-in-class user experience that drives increased employee engagement with their health.
