Healthy Workplace Month: It’s time to act

by: | October 2, 2017

For Healthy Workplace Month, we’ll be providing tips and strategies to foster a culture of health at the office. From incorporating the pillars of employee wellness into your workplace health program to empowering your team with the right tools and resources, we’ll cover it all… and then some.

October may be Healthy Workplace Month, but here at League, health at work is embedded in the way we think (and do) things year round. So much so that we named one of our most popular programs, Health@Work. (Apt, isn’t it?)

From creating a holistic workplace health program that incorporates all pillars of employee wellness to implementing practices that support the diverse needs of a diverse workforce, we take our team’s health and well-being seriously.

And, if we may be so bold, so should you.

Why wellness? Why now?

The more employers take on the responsibility of providing health education and health offerings in the workplace, the healthier their people will be. This preventive and proactive approach to health isn’t only good for your team, but it’s great for your bottom line. And it can even help relieve some of the burden on our healthcare system.

Ultimately, this is a big win for employee retention. And that’s a good thing as businesses like yours try to address the changing expectations of today’s workforce and tomorrow’s employees. Employers and HR leaders need to partner together to help foster a culture of health in the workplace.

From accommodating a midday fitness class to hosting a seminar on debt management, the modern employee expects their employer to provide the support and resources necessary to help them take care of their physical, mental, social and financial well-being. This is where an inclusive and flexible workplace health program comes into play.

Part of the challenge for employers, though, is that everyone has different health needs. So where do you begin?
