Cookies & Tracking Notice

Effective date: August 24, 2022

Source: League Inc. Privacy Policy

League uses various technologies to collect information, such as cookies and web beacons. In this Policy we explain what cookies and tracking technologies we use, the reasons why we use them and how you can opt-out of our use of cookies and tracking technologies.

What are cookies and web beacons?

Cookies are small pieces of information that a website sends to your device while you are viewing a site. We may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which usually stay on your device until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience.  You can learn more about cookies by visiting www.allaboutcookies.org.

Web beacons are digital images that are used to log information on our Platform, web services, or in our emails. We use web beacons to manage cookies, count visits, and to learn what marketing works and what does not. We also use web beacons to tell if you open or act on our emails.

How do we use them?

Strictly necessary – These cookies are necessary for our Platform and web services to function, to provide you with Services available through our Platform and web services, and to enable you to use some of its features. They cannot be switched off in our systems. Typically, they are only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms. Without these cookies, the Service you have asked for cannot be provided. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.

Functionality – These cookies enable our Platform and web services to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation by remembering the choices you make when you use our Platform and web services. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our Platform and web services. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.

Performance and Analytics – These cookies and similar technologies collect information on how users interact with our Platform and web services  and help us improve how our Platform and web services operate. They allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Platform and web services. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Platform and web services. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous.  For example, we use Google Analytics to help us understand how our Platform and web services are used to identify areas for improvement such as navigation, user experience, and campaigns. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our Platform and web services, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

Social Media – These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to our Platform and web services to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are used when you share information using a social media sharing button or “like” button on our site or you link your account or engage with our content on or through a social networking website such as Twitter or LinkedIn.  These cookies are capable of tracking your browser across other websites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.

Targeting or Advertising – These cookies collect information about your browsing habits to make advertising relevant to you and your interests. They may be set through our Platform or web services by our advertising partners. They remember the websites you have visited and that information is shared with other parties such as advertising technology service providers and advertisers. This is used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

Please note, we do not use any tracking technologies for third-party advertisements in our Platform. Any marketing or promotion is coming from League directly and is based on your Health Profile and use of the Platform. We may use targeting or advertising cookies and tracking technologies on our websites which are independent from your Member account and experience.

If you’d like details on which cookies, tracking and other analytics technologies are active in your browser—or you’d like to opt out, you can use tools like Privacy BadgeruBlock Origin, or Ghostery. Please note that those tools are just a few of many tools that can be used. You understand that we in no way endorse the use of these tools and we are not in any way affiliated with their respective developers, so we do not assume any liability for any consequences arising from the use of these tools.

How can I opt-out?

Disabling Cookies – You may disable or update your cookie preferences by accessing the Cookies Settings

You can also remove or reject cookies through your browser or device settings. To do so, follow the instructions provided by your browser or device (usually located within the “settings,” “help” “tools,” or “edit” functions). If you’d like to know more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your computer or device and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

If you do not accept our cookies, you may experience some inconvenience while using our Platform and web services. For example, we may not be able to recognize your computer or device and you may need to log in every time you visit our Platform.

Google Analytics – We use Google Analytics to understand how you engage with our Platform. The technologies used by Google may collect information such as your truncated IP address, time of visit, whether you are a return visitor, and any referring website. The information generated by Google Analytics will be transmitted to and stored by Google and will be subject to Google’s privacy policies.  If you don’t want Analytics to be used, you can learn how to opt out here.

Do Not Track Signals – Some browsers include the ability to transmit “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. League Platform and web services respect “Do Not Track” signals. To learn more about DNT, please visit https://www.eff.org/issues/do-not-track. League takes privacy and choices regarding privacy seriously and will make efforts to continue to monitor the development around DNT technology and the implementation of a standard.
