It’s time to step up and be the silver lining.

Closing out week five of working from home and taking all the necessary steps to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. It cannot be stressed enough: these are uncertain times. We’re not sure when the restrictions will start to loosen, when we can start getting back to our old normal, or when this will all be over. It’s easy to slip into a state of fear. To feel stressed and overwhelmed. But I urge you not to.

I urge you to look past the dark clouds and find the silver linings. They exist. Look at your neighbors dropping off groceries for each other. The retired healthcare workers masking up and reporting for duty, day after day. Businesses taking swift steps to support their people and the public during this unprecedented crisis. All around us, people are stepping up to take care of each other on a personal and professional level, and that’s the silver lining. It’s also a crucial reminder that as a business community, we need to step up and help each other during times of crisis. Right now, a lot of businesses are struggling. Those who *can* help *should*.

I urge you to look past the dark clouds and find the silver linings. They exist. Look at your neighbors dropping off groceries for each other. The retired healthcare workers masking up and reporting for duty, day after day.

Take our airlines. COVID-19 is hitting this industry hard—reminding us of the devastation caused by 9/11. Yet airlines have gone above and beyond to keep people safe and guide them back home to their families during a global crisis. That’s a silver lining. Especially for those who otherwise faced the uncertainty of not knowing when they’d be reunited with their loved ones.

Look at our health systems. Frontline workers braving known and unknown challenges every minute of every day to protect us and keep us safe. That’s a silver lining. Knowing there are competent, selfless experts willing to step up and guide us through this uncharted territory. They say not all heroes wear capes—right now, they wear gloves and masks.

So it’s our turn to step up. Knowing that employee health is mission critical for every organization these days, we’ve put together a support plan for companies whose people have done so much to help ours. The League platform offers personalized physical and mental health support to employees wherever they are and provides employers with insight into population health—data that’s critical for business continuity.

While we can’t tell you when the restrictions will lift, or when we can start getting back to the old normal, we can be the one to offer support to during these challenging times. We encourage you to do the same. Offer your products, services or expertise to businesses that are struggling. Reach out to other industries and ask how you can help. Think of it as neighbors checking in on neighbors, but on a corporate scale. Be the one who steps up. Be the silver lining. It’s in all of us.
