Applicant Privacy Notice

Purpose

The purpose of this policy explains what data we collect about you and how we store, analyze, and share the data throughout League and with our third party service providers.

Scope

League Inc. (“us,”, “we,”, “our,” or “League”) is committed to protecting your data, and our highest priority is keeping your Personal Information safe. This Privacy Notice applies to the processing of Personal Information that League collects about applicants for employment or contractual services. 

Personal Information Collection

We collect information about you when you provide it to us and when other sources provide it to us, as described below. 

League collects the following personal information about applicants:

  • Contact information: name, address, phone, email, 
  • Application related information: resume/CV, cover letter, employment history, education history, skill and qualifications, social media links
  • Demographics survey information: League is committed to diversity. The following information is collected from applicants in an aggregated de-identified form to help League identify areas for improvement: sex, gender identity, racial / ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status
  • Background screening and reference checks: League collects information necessary to verify information in your application, conduct background screenings, and information provided by your references.
  • Publicly available information: League may collect publicly available information about you, such as from social media sources.

Personal information you provide to League

As part of your application to League, you provide contact information, application related information, and the optional demographics survey information.

Personal information provided by others

League collects additional information about you from other sources. This includes information collected from background screening and information provided by your references. Information about you may be provided to League from recruiting sources, including recruiting agencies and websites. League may also collect publicly available information about you from social media sources, such as LinkedIn.

Information Use

League uses the personal information collected from and about you to facilitate recruiting, interview, and onboarding processes, as well as to comply with applicable legal obligations. This includes:

  • Recruiting to identify potential candidates;
  • Skill and qualifications analysis to assess your skills and qualifications for the position in which you are applying;
  • Interviews to provide your interviewers with information necessary to conduct interviews;
  • Application verification – to verify the details provided in your application;
  • Recruiting improvements To improve League’s recruitment efforts;
  • Diversity in hiring To evaluate the effectiveness of League’s diversity in hiring and employment efforts; and make improvements; 
  • Compliance with legal obligations To comply with applicable legal obligations.

Information Sharing

Your information is shared internally with relevant League employees only or contractors as needed to facilitate the recruitment, interview, and onboarding process. 

League engages third party service providers to assist in the provision of services. Your information is shared with these third parties to assist League in the recruitment, interview, and onboarding process. This includes third parties with whom League contracts to perform background screenings and reference checks. 

To the extent required under applicable law, League will share your personal information with relevant government agencies. 

League never sells your personal information.

Security

At League, we take security and privacy very seriously. We’re committed to protecting your personal information, including sensitive personal information. We follow strict security and compliance standards not only because we need to meet specific obligations, but because we consider it one of the most important things we can do for you. 

Third parties with whom your Information is shared are required to adhere to our security and privacy standards and undergo compliance reviews prior to information transfer. We limit the Information shared to the minimum amount necessary to ensure the provisions and quality of services. 

League has implemented technical and organizational controls to protect your personal information. This includes access restriction, encryption, training, and handling policies. Our employees and contractors are obligated to respect the confidentiality of your Personal Information and are only authorized to access your Information as necessary to do their jobs and facilitate the recruitment, interview, and onboarding process. 

Information Management Responsibilities: League has dedicated Compliance, Security, and Privacy Teams responsible for ensuring your Personal Information is protected. These teams collaborate across the organization to implement and maintain protection of your Personal Information and League’s security and compliance standards.

Your Rights

You have the right to know what information League has about you, request a copy of that information, request deletion or correction of that information, and request League stop processing your information. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the applicable privacy regulatory agency.

California Residents – The California Consumer Privacy Rights Act grants you the right to request League Stop Selling Your Personal Information and the right to request League Stop Processing Your Sensitive Personal Information. To exercise these rights, please reach out to the contact information above. Please note, League never sells your personal information.

Retention

We will only retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. To figure out the appropriate retention period for Personal Information, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your Personal Information, and the purposes for which we process your Personal Information.

Minors

Generally, League does not collect Personal Information from minors for the purposes of employment. In the event a minor is hired, League will follow all applicable laws regarding data collection from minors.

International Data Transfer

League is headquartered in Canada, has an office in the United States, and uses Third Party Providers in other countries. Your Personal Information may be transferred to the Canada, United States or other locations outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. League takes appropriate steps to protect your privacy and implement reasonable security measures to protect your Personal Information in storage and transmission. We also enter into contracts with our Third Party Providers that require them to treat Personal Information in a way that’s consistent with this Policy.

EU Residents

This is for residents of the European Union (“EU”) including the European Economic Area (“EEA”) countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and, where applicable, Switzerland. Our processing of Personal Information of Members who are in the EU is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). The GDPR requires us to give you certain information about your data and rights:

Personal information – References to “Personal Information” and “Information” in this Privacy Policy are equivalent to “personal data” governed by the GDPR.

Legal basis for processing – We only use your Information as permitted by law. We are required to inform you of the legal basis of our processing of your Personal Information, which are described in this Policy. Use for new purposes – We may use your Personal Information for reasons not described in this Policy where permitted by law and the reason is compatible with the purpose for which we collected it. If we need to use your Personal Information for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and explain the legal basis.

Cross-Border Data Transfer – Whenever we transfer your personal information out of the EU to countries not deemed by the European Commission to provide an adequate level of protection, the transfer will be based on contracts approved by the European Commission which impose data protection obligations on the parties to the transfer. Your rights to access, correct, restrict or delete your Personal Information and object to processing – You have the right to request access to your Personal Information, to have your Information corrected, restricted or deleted, and to object to our processing of your Personal Information. You also have the right of data portability, which means that you can request that we provide you (or a third party you designate) with a transferable copy of the Personal Information that you have provided to us. Your rights may be subject to various limitations under the GDPR. Dispute Resolution

If you believe that League has not adhered to this Privacy Policy, please contact League by email at privacy@league.com. We’ll do our best to make things right. If you feel that your complaint hasn’t been fully addressed, let us know and we’ll investigate further.

If you’d rather file an anonymous complaint, you can do so through our whistleblower hotline provided by an independent Third Party Provider. You always have the option to remain completely anonymous. Complaints can be made 24/7/365 through one of the following channels:

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, the revised policy will be posted online and if we make material changes, you may be notified by email. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the amended Privacy Policy. Any amended Privacy Policy supersedes all previous versions. Please check back periodically, and especially before you provide any personal information.
