It’s official. League has opened the doors of our first U.S. headquarters office in Chicago. We celebrated this milestone with some sips, bites, and passionate discussions about the health benefit experience at our jam-packed Open House last week. The occasion prompted us to stop and reflect on the events that led us to this moment. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. Founded in 2014. Having made their mark with innovation in various other industries, a group of serial tech entrepreneurs decided their next challenge would be to disrupt the broken healthcare industry. Five years later, Mike Serbinis, along with an accomplished leadership team carrying 20+ years of experience are leading the charge to help people live healthier, happier lives every day. League heads to Chicago. In January of 2017, after partnering with several Canadian employers to solve their health benefit experience pain points, League decided to tackle the U.S. market. So, they set up shop in the first of four WeWork spaces. HQ expands in Toronto. In 2018, the League headquarters in downtown Toronto was bursting at the seams due to the growing Canadian team. So, we moved to a bigger (and better) office to give our Leaguers a bit more space. U.S. team continues to grow. By January of 2019, the U.S. team reached a total of 45 employees after only two years. League opens U.S. HQ. July of 2019 marks the opening of League’s U.S. home base in the heart of Chicago. So, how is such a rapid growth even possible? Healthcare keeps getting more complex, more expensive, and nobody likes the experience. It’s a trillion dollar industry, yet we don’t see an improvement in health outcomes. Not to mention that over 50% of consumers say they can’t access their health benefits the way they prefer, which can lead to confusion and avoidance of care. In short, the market is hungry for a consumer-centric way to manage their health, and that’s where we come in. Our enterprise health benefit experience OS, HBX, is giving consumers a personalized, supportive way to manage their health and benefits on an intuitive, digital platform. And, we plan to keep on growing. Momentum is building as we experience once of the busiest summers ever at League. As a result our teams are growing. We met a lot of talented, driven people looking for a challenging opportunity at our Chicago Open House, and we’re looking for more people to add to our growing teams. If you think you’re up for the challenge of disrupting a 100 year old failing industry, keep an eye out for an open position that interests you.
